    More than 750 thousand guests in September

    A total of 751,376 guests made their way through Keflavík Airport (KEF) in september, which is a -5% fewer than in September of the previous year.

    In total, 27 airlines flew to 77 destinations. The most popular destinations were Copenhagen, London, New York, Amsterdam, and Paris.

    The busiest day in the month was September 7, with over 31,000 guests travelling through the airport.

    According to the Icelandic Tourist Board, the departures of Icelanders were nearly 59,000 in September. Since the beginning of the year, Icelanders have travelled abroad about 556,000 times, representing a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.

    Departures of foreign guests from the country totalled about 224,000 in September. The largest group were Americans, accounting for 74,000 departures (33% of all foreign departures), followed by Germans with 17,000 (8%), Chinese with 14,000 (6%), British travellers with 13,000 (6%), and Spaniards with 11,000 (5%).
