Nearly 1 million guests in July

As expected, July was one of the busiest months of the year, with a near-record number of travellers passing through the airport. In total, 992,555 passengers used KEF, just 3.5% fewer than in July last year.
A total of 29 airlines operated from KEF in July. The most popular destinations for travellers were Copenhagen, New York, London, Paris, and Oslo. At the same time, the number of destinations has increased significantly compared to previous years, flights went to 81 destinations in July, compared to 79 the year before.
The busiest day was July 27th, when more than 36,000 guests travelled through KEF.

According to the Icelandic Tourist Board, around 67,000 Icelanders departed the country in July, an increase of more than 6% compared with the same month last year. From January through July, Icelanders have taken 438,000 trips abroad, representing a 22% increase year-on-year.
Departures of foreign guests totalled 302,000 in July, up more than 9% from July last year. The largest groups were Americans (34%), followed by Germans (7%), Brits (6%), Canadians (5%), and French (5%).
Between January and July, nearly 1.3 million foreign passengers departed Iceland, a 1.4% increase from the same period last year.
