Future Opportunity – Chef in the KEF Airport Cafeteria
We are looking for a service-minded and positive individual to join our cafeteria team at KEF Airport. The role involves providing service to staff, guests, and business partners in a diverse and dynamic work environment where safety, environmental responsibility, and excellent service are key priorities.
This is a full-time position, but hiring may be considered either for daytime work from 8:00–16:00 or for shift work with a 2-2-3 schedule.
Our guests and partners are both Icelandic and international, so strong language skills are important. We place great emphasis on a positive working environment, strong team spirit, and employee well-being.
Isavia operates a modern staff cafeteria and is seeking an ambitious individual with a strong service mindset and excellent interpersonal skills. The successful candidate should prioritize quality, variety, and public health.
Main Responsibilities
- Act as a leader in the kitchen in the absence of the Operations Manager.
- Supervise daily staff duties and ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Prepare, cook, and present food.
- Receive deliveries, organize stock, and monitor food storage temperatures.
- Purchase food supplies and operational goods in cooperation with the Operations Manager, or independently in their absence.
- Prepare catering for meetings and events.
- Monitor cafeteria equipment and facilities, and coordinate maintenance when needed.
- Ensure cleaning procedures are followed.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
The immediate supervisor is the Cafeteria Operations Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Formal education in culinary arts is required.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to work independently, strong organizational skills, and professional ambition.
